Public Transportation

Milos has a public bus system connecting main settlements and famous shores. This is an economical way to get around. KTEL Milos operates the network. The central bus hub for all routes is in Adamas, close to the port.

From Adamas, buses travel to Plaka, Tripiti, Pollonia, Sarakiniko, Firiplaka, and Provatas. Other less frequent routes exist as well. Bus schedules are posted at main bus halts and online via the KTEL Milos site or local tourism offices.

Bus System Details

Tickets purchased from the driver or kiosks near stops. Cash payment is typical.
Fares generally range from €1.80 to €3.00 per trip. No multi-ride passes common.
High season (July-August): Buses run every 30-60 minutes, from early in the morning to late in the evening.
Accessibility: Buses may not be wheelchair-friendly for mobility challenges.

Arrive Early

In peak season, coaches to famous destinations like Sarakiniko or Firiplaka become crowded. Early arrival helps.

Ride-Sharing & Safety

Ride-sharing apps like Uber or Bolt are not available on Milos.
Use licensed taxis (taxi sign on roof, license number visible).
Roads can be narrow, winding, unpaved. People who drive are experienced with these conditions.

Car Rental

Requirements: 21-23+ years old. Valid national driver's license.
International Driving Permit (IDP) often needed for non-English/non-photo licenses.
Credit card needed for a security deposit.
Companies: International chains (Budget Milos) and local agencies (Milos Rent A Car).

Motorcycle & Scooter Rentals

Valid motorcycle license (A category) for larger scooters.
B category (car) license sometimes sufficient for smaller scooters (up to 125cc).
Helmets are mandatory and for use at all times.
Roads winding, some unpaved. Experience advised.

ATV/Quad Rentals & Driving Laws

ATVs are well-liked for exploring unpaved dirt roads to remote beaches.
Valid B category driver's license typically needed, IDP for non-EU licenses.
ATVs are unstable, use extreme caution on turns/uneven terrain.

Driving side: Greece drives on the right-hand side of the road.
Speed limits: Generally A speed limit of 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on open roads. Observe posted limits.
Parking: Can be challenging in popular villages during peak season.
