Krabi International Airport (KBV): This acts as the closest and most common entry point for travelers heading to Ko Lanta. It lies approximately 70 kilometers from the island. KBV handles domestic flights from Bangkok and other Thai cities, along with certain regional international flights.
Phuket International Airport (HKT): A larger international hub, Phuket Airport presents a wider array of flight connections, including more direct international routes. However, it sits further from An Island district in krabi province, needing a longer transfer time (about 2.5-3 hours drive to the ferry pier, plus the ferry journey).
Krabi Airport: Offers basic facilities: ATMs, currency exchange, food stalls, duty-free shops, car hire counters, and tourist information.
Phuket Airport: A larger airport with more extensive facilities: a wider selection of dining, various shopping opportunities, and a broader range of ground transportation services.

While Ko Lanta is an island, land transport has a part in reaching it from various parts of Thailand. No direct train connections exist to Krabi or Ko Lanta. The closest train terminals are in Surat Thani or Trang. Long-distance buses and minivans link Krabi Town with major Thai cities, including Bangkok, Hat Yai, and Surat Thani. From Krabi Town, further transfers to An Island district in krabi province via minivan and car ferry are easily arranged.

The main point of arrival is Saladan Pier on Thailand Yai. For ferry departures from Saladan Pier, arrive at the pier 30-60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. This allows for ticket collection (if not already done), baggage handling, and finding your ferry. If you booked a minivan transfer (e.g., to Krabi Airport), be ready at your accommodation at the confirmed pick-up time.
