Train (Commuter Rail): mainly serves suburban and intercity travel. However, some local routes exist within Colombo. Trains offer a way to avoid road traffic but are less frequent compared to buses for inner-city travel. Colombo does not hold an underground metro system or a tram network.   • Colombo Central Bus Stand (Pettah) and Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal are major hubs of public buses.
  • Colombo Fort Railway Station is the main railway hub for both local and long-distance trains.
  • Detailed route maps for local buses are not always easy for tourists to find. Ask locals or bus conductors for directions.
