Getting Around Yangon

Public Transport Overview

The Yangon Bus Service (YBS) operates a comprehensive system of public buses throughout the city. Most buses are not air-conditioned, can be very crowded, and routes may appear complex to newcomers. However, some newer, air-conditioned buses exist on popular routes. Buses offer the cheapest way to travel across the city.

The Circular Railway is a slow, commuter rail line circling Yangon, covering approximately 46 kilometers. It offers an unique, immersive glimpse into local life in and around the city. It functions more as a cultural experience than an efficient mode of transport for tourists.
