For internal town movement, no formal public transit system exists. The entirety of Chefchaouen's medina, the main space for visitors, functions on foot. This permits an immersive experience, encouraging visitors to wander and discover. For travel outside the immediate medina area or to the inter-city bus station, petit taxis are available.
No route maps for internal public transport exist for Chefchaouen. The main bus depot (Gare Routière) serves as the main hub for inter-city buses, connecting Chefchaouen to other Moroccan cities. This station is located a short distance outside the medina, requiring either a walk or a petit taxi ride to reach it.
Petit taxi fares are often negotiated; for long-long-haul buses, tickets are purchased at the station or office.
