The main international gateway to the Greater Tokyo Area, located in Chiba Prefecture, approximately 45-60 kilometers east of Ichikawa. NRT handles a vast number of international flights.
Located in Tokyo, approximately 30-40 kilometers west of Ichikawa. HND has significantly expanded its international routes, especially for Asian, Oceanian, North American style, and Continental destinations. HND is often closer to the central area Tokyo.
Both NRT and HND offer numerous direct flight options from major global hubs like Los Angeles, London, Singapore, and Sydney.
Flight prices are generally higher during peak seasons (cherry blossoms, autumn foliage, major holidays). Lower prices in late winter and early summer.
Both airports are modern with extensive facilities: dining, shopping, currency exchange, lounges, free Wi-Fi, tourist info.

The JR Sobu Line (Rapid/Local) is the lifeline, connecting Ichikawa Station directly to central Tokyo (Tokyo, Shinjuku) and eastward to Chiba City. The Rapid service offers faster travel.
Keisei Yawata Station, adjacent to JR Ichikawa Station, serves the Keisei Main Line (to Ueno, Narita Airport). The Toei Shinjuku subway line applies to Moto-Yawata Station, providing direct subway access to Shinjuku.
Roads are well-maintained, and signage includes English.
Driving is on the left. Expressways carry significant tolls. Parking can be expensive and scarce, especially in urban areas like Ichikawa and Tokyo. Not suggested for daily travel within Ichikawa or to Tokyo.
