Guangan Sichuan, China Travel Guide
Guang'a Guangwumen Airport (GUA) is a small regional airport with limited domestic flights. Most international travelers use larger hubs.
No direct international flights to GUA. International travelers fly into CTU or CKG, then connect via land transport or domestic flight. Flight prices are higher during peak seasons and Chinese holidays. Booking in advance is advisable.
Fastest and most convenient from CTU/CKG. Airport shuttle/metro to main railway station (Chengdu East, Chongqing North/West), then high-speed train to Guang'an. Travel time: Chengdu ~1.5-2 hours, Chongqing ~1 hour.
Available from airport bus terminals or city bus stations in Chengdu or Chongqing directly to Guang'a Passenger Transport Terminal. Travel time: 2.5-4 hours, traffic dependent.
Arrangements are possible for direct transport and comfort, but this option is more expensive. Foreigners generally cannot self-drive without a Chinese driving license.
International airports (CTU/CKG) offer robust internet and mobile services.
A variety of restaurants, cafes, and snack bars are present at key hubs.
Duty-free shops and other retail stores are available for last-minute purchases.
Guang'an has two main railway stations: Guang'a Railway Station and Guang'a South Train Terminal. These serve both conventional and high-speed rail, connecting to major cities in Sichuan and outside the area.
The Guang'a Passenger Transport Terminal serves as the main bus station. It provides an extensive network connecting Guang'a to towns and towns within Sichuan and neighboring provinces, like Chongqing, Nanchong, and Suining.
Foreigners generally cannot self-drive in China without a Chinese driving license, which requires passing a written and potentially a driving test. International Driving Permits are not recognized.
Guang'an is a city not on the coast, so sea or major river arrivals are not applicable for international travel. The Qu River flows through Guang'an, but passenger ferry services are mainly local or for sightseeing, not inter-city or international arrival.
No specific exit fees or taxes are typically levied when departing China by air, as these are usually included in the ticket price. Plan your arrival at the airport or station with ample time.
Major airports like CTU and CKG offer a full range of facilities. Guang'an's local stations provide basic services for departing travelers.
Ensure all travel documents, including passport and visa, are readily easy to reach and valid for your destination.
Convert any remaining local currency if needed, or spend down your WeChat Pay/Alipay balance. Keep some small notes for immediate needs.
Double-check your route to the airport or station, especially during peak traffic hours, and allow extra travel time.
Confirm your flight or train schedule, check-in requirements, and luggage allowances. Have digital and physical copies of your tickets.
