Public Transportation Overview

Noosa's public transport is managed by TransLink, Queensland's integrated public transport system. The system mainly consists of local bus services. These buses connect Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, Sunshine Beach, Peregian Beach, and other surrounding communities. The bus network is a cost-effective way to move between popular spots without a private vehicle.

The Noosa Heads Bus Station, near Hastings Street, is a central hub for many routes. Tewantin Wharf is a hub for services to and from Tewantin and connects to the popular Noosa Ferry.

  • Route 620: Connects Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, extending to Cooroy (train station).
  • Route 626/627: Connect Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, and Peregian Beach, serving coastal communities.
  • Route 628: Connects Noosa Junction, Noosaville, and Tewantin, linking residential and commercial areas.
  • Ticketing: Go Card (reusable smart card, cheaper fares) or single paper tickets from driver (cash/contactless).

Hours & Frequency

Buses run from early morning (5:30 AM) to late evening (10-11 PM). Reduced on weekends and public holidays. Main routes every 15-30 minutes peak, quieter routes hourly.

Accessibility

Navigation Tips

Use the TransLink QLD app or Google Maps for real-time tracking and journey planning. Plan evening/weekend travel due to lower frequency. Noosa Free Holiday Bus operates during peak seasons.

Taxis & Ride-Sharing

  • Licensed taxis are white/silver with a "TAXI" sign. They operate with meters.
  • Hailing: On street (less common), taxi ranks (Hastings Street, Noosa Junction), or phone (Suncoast Cabs).
  • Fares: Metered (flag fall, distance/time rates). Short trip AUD 15-30. Surcharges for late-night/holidays. Payment: Cash, credit card (surcharge), Cabcharge.

Self-Driving Essentials

Posted signs indicate limits; generally 50km/h in urban areas, 100km/h on highways. Using a mobile phone while driving is illegal. The blood alcohol limit for drivers is 0.05%.
