This is the main airport for Bulawayo and the surrounding Matabeleland region. It is a modern, compact airport.
Several options exist for reaching Bulawayo city center from the airport.
Flight prices generally increase during peak tourist season (July-October) and major holidays. Booking well in advance obtains better rates.
BQZ is a small but modern facility. It features a few shops, currency exchange, and car rental desks. A small cafe is available. Wi-Fi may be limited.
No direct flights from major global hubs. Connect via Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADD).

Economy and First Class are available. Sleeper compartments often exist for overnight journeys. Purchase tickets at Bulawayo Railway Station; advance booking advisable for sleepers.
Bulawayo has no access to oceans or major navigable rivers supporting ferry services or cruise ports for international or inter-city travel.
As Bulawayo is landlocked, immigration procedures at seaports do not apply to arrivals or departures related to the city.
Be aware of any fees, procedures, and timing recommendations for a smooth transition from the city.

These facilities are generally more basic. Expect waiting areas, and possibly small shops or vendors selling snacks and drinks. Facilities may not offer the comfort levels found at international airports.
For international flights, arrive at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled departure time. For domestic flights, arriving 1-1.5 hours before departure usually suffices. Confirm flight status and terminal information before heading to the airport.
Reconfirm your flight, bus, or train departure times the day before you leave. Schedules may change, and confirming prevents delays.
