Taxis are readily available outside the terminal. Agree on the fare beforehand (50-100 TJS to city center). Using the Yandex Go app highly recommended for fixed, fair prices.
Bus #8 and Trolleybus #4 connect the airport to the city center. This is the cheapest option (2-3 TJS), but navigating with significant luggage can be challenging.
Not generally recommended for tourists due to varying road quality and local driving styles.
National driving license and an International Driving Permit are needed if you choose to drive.
Hiring a car with a driver is a safer, more practical option for exploring beyond the city.
Dushanbe’s public transport system is an useful and budget-friendly way to explore the city, mainly consisting of buses and trolleybuses. No metro or tram.
Taxis a convenient way to get around Dushanbe, with ride-sharing apps reliability. Agree on street taxi fares beforehand to avoid overcharging.
Road quality varies significantly outside the capital, with challenging mountainous terrain. Local driving styles can be erratic.
Beyond standard options, Dushanbe offers a few specialized modes, though not widely for general public use.
For international flights, arrive at Dushanbe International Airport at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled flight. This ample time for check-in, security screening, and immigration formalities.
DYU offers basic facilities for departing travelers, similar to its arrival services.
Dushanbe's central areas, especially Rudaki Avenue, are very pleasant for walking.
Dedicated bicycle infrastructure is limited. Cyclists generally share the road with vehicular traffic.
Few "no-go" areas exist in central Dushanbe. Avoid walking alone in poorly lit or deserted areas at night.
