This is Mauritius' sole international airport. It is in Plaisance, on the island's southeastern side. The airport is about 48 kilometers (30 miles) southeast of Port Louis. This distance means you will arrange onward transportation to reach the capital after arrival.

For international flights from MRU, arrive at least 3 hours before departure. This gives ample time for check-in, security, and immigration.
There are no separate exit fees or departure taxes for tourists leaving Mauritius; applicable taxes are usually included in your international airfare. The airport facilities for departing travelers are similar to arrivals, including duty-free shops, dining options, and lounges.
