Public Transportation

Macau

Public Transit Overview

Macau's bus network is highly developed, covering almost all areas of the Macau Peninsula. Buses are a convenient and inexpensive way to travel between attractions, hotels, and residential areas.

The system operates by Transportes Urbanos de Macau (TUM) and Transmac. Both services integrate seamlessly. While no metro is present on the Peninsula, the efficient bus system largely mitigates this. Bus stops are plentiful and typically well-marked.

Route Maps & Hubs

  • Bus routes cover nearly every corner.
  • Important hubs: Praça Ferreira Amaral, Border Gate, Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal.
  • Maps: Find at major bus stops, online from TUM/Transmac websites, and mobile apps.
  • These maps illustrate the extensive network and aid route planning.

Ticketing Systems & Fares

A flat fare of MOP 6 applies. Exact change is needed for cash payments. Macau Pass is recommended for convenience and discount (MOP 3).

Hours of Operation & Frequency

Buses generally operate from 6:00 AM to midnight. Some popular routes may offer extended hours. Frequency varies by route and time of day.

Accessibility Information

Some newer buses in Macau's fleet are low-floor and wheelchair accessible. Not all buses are accessible, and some older bus stops may not have ramps.

Tips for Navigating Efficiently
